Le Herdenkingsmonument HMS Vindictive est un monument culturel situé en Belgique, à Oostende, sur l'estacade Oostelijke Strekdam 1. Ce monument rend hommage au navire HMS Vindictive, un bateau anglais qui avait pour mission de bloquer les sous-marins allemands durant la Première Guerre mondiale. L'avant du navire était initialement installé à une centaine de mètres de sa position actuelle, avant d'être déplacé sur cette nouvelle estacade il y a quelques années.

Un souvenir de ce bateau Anglais qui avait voulu bloquer les sous marins Allemands. L''avant du navire était installé à une centaine de mètres avant de trouver une nouvelle place il y quelques années sur cette nouvelle estacade. Régulièrement on trouve des gerbes de coquelicots au pied de ce monument.

Ter herdenking aan de aanval op Oostende in de nacht van 9 op 10 mei 1918, geleid door de HMS Vindictive. Het schp werd tijdens de Eerste Wereldoorlog door de Britten in de vaargeul van de haven tot zinken gebracht, dit om te verhinderen dat Duitse onderzeeboten de Noordzee konden bereiken. De blokkade had niet het gewenste effect. Bij de aanval verloren 8 Britten het leven, 29 raakte gewond en 10 vermist. Fraai gerstaureerd, voorzien van meer informatie en nabij waar het tot zinken werd gebracht. Een heerlijk plekje om te wandelen en van het uitzicht te genieten.

Остатки корабля погибшего в далёкой войне.
Этот мемориал представляет собой носовую часть английского корабля HMS Vindictive, затонувшего во время войны W.0. I, был потоплен англичанами в судоходном канале порта Остенде в ночь с 9 на 10 мая 1918 года при попытке отрезать путь к морю немецким подводным лодкам. Британцы насчитали 8 убитых, 10 пропавших без вести и 29 раненых, включая капитана, командующего Альфреда Э. Годсала. Обломки «Виндиктива» были сняты с мели в 1920 году и снесены, а носовая часть передана городу. На церемонии поминовения 10 мая 2018 года ему было указано его нынешнее местоположение на Остелийке Стрекдам. Носовая часть «Виндиктива» признана архитектурным наследием с 2009 года.

1 van de betekenisvolle oorlogsmonumenten die Oostende rijk is. Het verhaal achter de HMS Vindictive is typisch om de Duitse opmars destijds een halt toe te roepen door de haven van Oostende onbruikbaar te maken of althans te proberen. Mooie site van waaruit je een totaal ander beeld krijgt van Oostende als havenstad.

Aforgotton moment in a war long ago The british attempting to block ostende submarine attacts in the north sea during WW1 decommisioned the Vindictive removed her guns -filled her with concrete. With the plan too block the channel by sinking the ship. Unfortunalty the germans decided not to co operate and opened fire on the ship and escaping crew killing some and injuring many. To me it a "good idea" at the time senerio unless u are in the crew of course. Their heroisim is acknowledged by the authorites with the recovery of the bow and placement in memorial - I feel sad at the endeavour made
